Furnace Installation in Toronto

Furnace replacement is our most requested Toronto service. Toronto homes — from older Etobicoke and North York semis to newer Midtown and Scarborough builds — typically need 60,000–100,000 BTU Lennox furnaces sized by Manual J heat-loss calculation. We carry Lennox Merit ML196E (96% AFUE), Elite EL297V (97% AFUE, variable-speed), and Signature SLP99V (up to 99% AFUE, modulating). All installations include a TSSA permit, standard venting, and removal of your old furnace. See our Lennox furnace installation page and our furnace replacement cost guide.

For urgent furnace failures in Toronto, call (905) 951-8080. Same-day service available during heating season. See our Toronto furnace repair page for emergency details. Unsure whether to repair or replace? See our furnace repair vs. replacement guide and how long does a furnace last.

Toronto-Specific Furnace Installation Considerations

Toronto homes present unique installation challenges that affect both cost and timeline. We handle all of these on every job:

City of Toronto mechanical permit — the City of Toronto requires a mechanical permit for furnace installations in addition to the TSSA permit. Our licensed contractors handle all permit applications and post-installation inspections. Never use a contractor who skips the permit.

Century homes and older semis — Toronto’s older housing stock often has undersized ductwork, unconventional furnace placements, and knob-and-tube electrical. These homes may require gas line or venting work that adds to the installed cost. We assess all of these during the free in-home assessment.

Enbridge gas service — most Toronto homes are on Enbridge natural gas. If your gas line requires a pressure upgrade or extension, Enbridge coordination is required. Our licensed gas fitters handle all gas line work.

Tight mechanical rooms — Toronto row houses and semis often have very limited mechanical room space. We install Lennox furnaces in tight configurations daily.

Heat Pump Installation in Toronto

Toronto homes on Enbridge natural gas are strong candidates for a dual-fuel hybrid system — a Lennox cold-climate heat pump (SL25XPV, EL22XPV) paired with a gas furnace backup. The heat pump handles 70–80% of annual heating hours efficiently; the furnace covers the coldest Toronto days. Ontario HRS rebates may apply — see our Ontario heat pump rebates guide.

Is There a Furnace Rebate in Toronto?

No. There is currently no Ontario or federal rebate for gas furnace replacement. The Canada Greener Homes Grant closed in 2024 and Enbridge HER+ closed December 31, 2025. If you pair a new furnace with a qualifying Lennox heat pump (dual-fuel hybrid), the heat pump portion may qualify for the Ontario HRS program. See our Ontario heat pump rebates guide.
